This episode is based on a New York Magazine article from 2018 of the same title. Embedded in this story lies the murder case of Kenneth Gutzeit in 1976. Bachman witnessed this incident as a Tulane University student in New Orleans, while at the Sigma Chi fraternity house, and it supposedly created a catalyst for his destructive behavior.
