Ipoh: Malaysia’s Jurassic Park

About 129 miles north from Kuala Lumpur city (Malaysia) lies a sleepy town called Ipoh in the state of Perak. It’s a beautiful town but people often drive past Ipoh in order to get to Penang, the more touristy hub for holiday makers.

Penang, which is an island, is another two hours drive north from Ipoh. It is a little fancier because it happens to be a heritage city under UNESCO. Compared to Ipoh, Penang has all you need on a traveler’s passport: street food, history, beaches, watering holes, nightlife, quaint cafes and the right kind of people fluent in English. Much like Beyoncé Knowles in Destiny’s Child. There are two other members, but Beyoncé's the glamorous one destined to headline the world while the other members — Michelle Williams and Kelly Rowland — cheer her on supportively while doing their bit in modest proportion (or else it would have been Destiny’s Children).

Website
