Why Jack the Ripper fascinates us
<p>It has been more than 130 years since Victorian London was shaken up by a series of gruesome murders in the Whitechapel District. The crimes stood out for their brutality; victims were found mutilated or even disemboweled.</p>
<p>While there were 11 unsolved murders collectively named “the Whitechapel Murders” in the police records, those taking place in the autumn of 1888 have been ascribed to the same perpetrator. This criminal was soon referred to as <strong>Jack the Ripper</strong>.</p>
