Between Istanbul and Izmir

When I had visited Turkey in 2011, it was as a 21st birthday gift from my parents in lieu of a party (at my request; I was never fond of large social gatherings anyway). It was to be my first solo trip without my family but I invited a couple of my best friends to join me at the behest of my father who was (is) a little (very) protective (paranoid). I had been to Istanbul a few times before as my family used to live in Saudi Arabia and we had flown home to South Africa over the summer with Turkish Airlines, with a short 2-day stopover in the city.
