Queer and Trans Folk: America’s New Interstate Refugees
<p>Local media outlets are spitting out the news blasts faster than I can type. Recently released data indicates that progressive policies aimed at protecting queer and trans rights have made my home state of Oregon a refuge for families and individuals scrambling to distance themselves from systemic, state-imposed intolerance.</p>
<p>While nearly 500 anti-LGBTQ bills were being proposed in Republican-majority state houses, Oregon was trending in a more positive and supportive direction. The state’s Democratic legislative majority has been actively striving to insure that residents retain the freedom to openly identify as who they are, and love who they love.</p>
