Japan’s Top Online Hobby Stores for International Shoppers

My favourite is Mandarake. It might not be that popular, possibly because it’s categorized as a second-hand store. Even though they have a few new products, the majority of their inventory is pre-owned. Despite most products being pre-owned, they are very conservative about labelling a package as ‘damaged’ — they look so new, I often can’t identify any damage. Additionally, it’s a great place to find older, rarer items. There are many Mandarake stores in Japan, but they all ship separately; you can’t combine purchases from different stores. Therefore, it’s essential to consider the shipping fee. Some stores offer shipping providers like Air, which are much less expensive than FedEx or EMS.

About shipping fee:

I recently placed two orders, most of the items I bought were related to Final Fantasy, with some Splatoon items included. One order cost over $100(AUD) in shipping using EMS, while the other was more reasonable, less than $30. Both arrived quickly, around a week. Shipping a 500g item from Australia to the USA costs $26 (AUD). For larger or heavier items, the cost could be $38 or even $50, so I have no idea how they could charge over $100… Based on my experience, the shipping fee typically amounts to less than 1/2 of the product price…
