Instagram Interview — Mike Monaghan

Mike recognizes that women are true works of art and he celebrates it by creating spectacular portraits. It appears that he never posts a photo taken in the same place. Every single photo is beautifully unique and he brings out the natural emotion in every model. Mike’s feed is inspiration central if you’re a portrait shooter. I have to say, I love when photographers do a long, heartfelt interview for me and this one is the longest yet. I think I got my first DSLR, a Canon Rebel XTi when I was 19 or 20. It wasn’t until I was 21 or 22 that I really started taking photography seriously though. I was pursuing a degree and career in graphic design, and had to take a photography class somewhere in there. I already enjoyed taking photos, but having a class open my eyes to more of the technical aspects on how to do things, was probably what pushed me to take it further. It was a VERY basic class, and if I took it again I’d probably realize that I never learned much. But it somehow inspired me though, which lead me to pursue a photography degree after finishing the one for graphic design in 2010.

Website
