Inside Japan: Visiting Tokyo As Part Of The Smart City Innovation Tour
<p>In the first two parts of our series, we covered the trips to <a href="https://medium.com/ming-labs/a-smart-city-innovation-tour-in-asia-china-singapore-japan-south-korea-f4bbe0b62442" rel="noopener">Singapore</a> and <a href="https://medium.com/ming-labs/inside-china-insights-plans-and-lessons-from-smart-city-47d572c8e8df" rel="noopener">Shanghai</a> and shared our learnings. In this part, the focus will be on the Japan leg of the Smart City tour and some insights gained from that visit. In <strong>Singapore</strong>, we saw how a <strong>small and developed nation was able to transform itself</strong> into a whole Smart Nation. There were strong government support and incentives for related developments. In <strong>China</strong>, we saw that <strong>data was key</strong>—and not just any kind of data, but data meeting at least minimum quality standards. <strong>Collaboration between startups and large corporations</strong> was important and the citizens had a big role to play to drive Smart City to a higher level.</p>
