Holding Stocks vs Index Funds

<p>I always thought actively managing my holdings will get me better results. Even after consistently buying into high conviction stocks did not return more than a passive investor&rsquo;s strategy of investing in&nbsp;<a href="https://www.google.com/finance/quote/.INX:INDEXSP" rel="noopener ugc nofollow" target="_blank">S&amp;P 500</a>&nbsp;regularly.</p> <p>Above results that I achieved are over a duration of 1.25 years. We all know 2020 was a black swan. And for significant wealth creation investment horizon should at least be 5 years or more. However, I think passive investing is so much better for an investor who does not want to let stock market be their daily go to place. Let&rsquo;s see if active investing gives better result than the passive strategy in the long run. However, at the time my&nbsp;<a href="https://www.investopedia.com/terms/1/401kplan.asp" rel="noopener ugc nofollow" target="_blank">401(k)</a>&nbsp;account is beating my stock portfolio by 11%.
