I Struck Gold
<p>I have had strange encounters with luck in the past 30 years.</p>
<p>I should mention I’ve always been a privileged person growing up where and how I did.</p>
<p>I’ve had emotional/psychological struggles — mild compared to many — but have had opportunities of financial wellness since I was born.</p>
<p>None of that was obvious after graduating from grad school. I have always worked hard, but it was never clear I wasn’t going to be a starving artist — once I chose to go pro with my dance career.</p>

<p>This list highlights things relating to my financial and housing health over the years.</p>
<p>In the last few, however, I have gotten into a deep hole financially, although have still been supported with connections and ways of living.</p>

<h2>Graduate School</h2>
<p>I was in a nighttime cafe with my parents and boyfriend, overseas. I was away for the year in college, and my folks came to visit. I recall my father mentioning — in passing — my grandmother leaving money if I wanted to go to graduate school.</p>
<p>A year later, upon finishing college — and having no idea what I was going to do — I leaned on this opportunity and used that money for a 2-year program.</p>
