Meghan Markle identifies as mixed-race, with a white father and an African-American mother. The concept of caste outside India might best be described as either second-class citizens or those who are victims of prejudice. But even these appellations would be limiting because our culture has enlarged the cohort of <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Discrimination_in_the_United_States#:~:text=Many%20forms%20of%20discrimination%20have,%2C%20gender%2C%20and%20sexual%20orientation." rel="noopener ugc nofollow" target="_blank">individuals who experience discrimination</a>. Now, in addition to the prior designation primarily aimed at people of color or gender, we have sexual orientation, religion, ethnicity, national origin, and non-English speakers.
