How To Read More Non Fiction

The world sometimes feels like it’s divided in half by two types of readers. Those who favour fiction, or those who crave the solidity of nonfiction. And then you get those in-between readers who like to try and read a bit of both.

I’m simultaneously fascinated and appalled by the world. Reading nonfiction is my attempt to try and understand it and educate myself. However, it’s not always something I can turn to at the end of the day.

Despite how much I’ve learned to love the genre, you will never catch me exclusively reading nonfiction because I love escapism too much.
Despite this, I have made a conscious effort to try and read more non-fiction this year.

After all, it is estimated that nonfiction makes up 88% of all books published in a year, compared to a measly 11% for fiction. It’s safe to say if you want to start reading more nonfiction, you’re never going to run out of books to read and explore, and that’s what has been inspiring me so much recently.

Out of the 40 books I’ve read so far (we’re only in August, remember) 11 of them have been nonfiction. If I compare that to my reading habits in 2022, out of 55 books read, only 4 were nonfiction.
