How much does a Senior Product Designer make? (layoffs edition)

When I wrote part one of this series, design jobs and recruiting outreach were much hotter. Here’s a look at a new set of emails in a Senior Product Designers' inbox from July 2022—2023 during a year of massive layoffs. All salaries are in USD and annualized.

Email #1

Senior role — $170k+ (private company)

Here’s some great transparency on what equity package their offering. Since I don’t see a bonus in the mix, equity would be at least $50k annually. That’s a $200,000 over 4-year deal in stock. The greater than symbol in the email signals that they are up for a negotiation to push this a bit more too.
