Outdoor-loving Brits are missing this holiday gem

Nestled in the northeastern corner of France, this region is a hidden gem for outdoor lovers. It was first brought to my attention in the 2012 Tour de France when Chris Froome won the stage and Bradley Wiggins took the yellow jersey on the fierce climb of La Planche des Belle Filles. Each time Le Tour revisited the area I grew more curious about it. I am, of course, talking about the Vosges.

It wasn’t until 2022 that I made it to the Vosges but it was worth the wait. Like many mountainous regions with a vibrant winter ski season, when the pistes and lifts fall quiet in the summer the Vosges becomes a playground for hikers, cyclists and outdoor enthusiasts and this is exactly why I visited.
