The Prado & How it Changed My Mind About Historical Painting

<p>From the time I was a child, I have always been extremely interested in the history of art. I grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin which is approximately an hour and forty-five minute train ride north of Chicago. I was extremely fortunate that growing up my family would take day trips down to Chicago fairly regularly. We would take the train down to the city center, affectionately called &ldquo;the Loop&rdquo; and walk around downtown, and go to the Field Museum or the Aquarium. My favorite visit was always the art museum. I can trace my love of art history back to my many trips to the Art Institute of Chicago which houses a huge collection of Impressionist paintings. For a long time I was obsessed with the Impressionists. In highschool I would devour art history novels about the different artist&rsquo;s lives and how the art movement began.
