Made In Italy

It’s becoming harder and harder to look at the bright side of things in Italy. It’s harder and harder to point out the beauty and the good. Because the beauty and good are literally being ravaged by corruption, mafia, greed and selfishness.

Last night’s evening news left me horrified. Images of rats roaming around the capital city of Rome amidst garbage, tourists, children and residents brought tears to my eyes.

How can Italians be so proud of their country, how can they constantly boast and brag about “made in Italy” to the world while they carelessly destroy their heritage, their culture and natural beauty, all of which represent their livelihood? Without tourism Italy’s economy would be in much worse shape than it already is.
