How Vancouver Could Grow Up

Ispend a lot of time thinking about Vancouver. Mostly I do a lot of this in the context of what it’s doing wrong, but some of it I do with an eye towards what I’d like to see it become, too. As an urban planner, I feel like I’m always torn in two directions in my work: I’m simultaneously fixated on the context of our city and region that currently exists, and what potentialities, both good and bad, lay ahead for us. Sometimes it’s really difficult to balance those two parts of myself, but part of me thinks that that’s simply all part of the job.
