Gran Turismo review

In a time where we are getting as of 2017 a bunch of unnecessary shitty ass Fast and Furious sequels, it’s really great to see something a little different involving racing. We were lucky to see that in the 2019 Oscar nominated flick Ford vs Ferrari. A tremendously well crafted flick with adrenaline pumping racing. Now in 2023 we got something just as fun and its based on a video game, Gran Turismo.

Really this is a story that was influenced by the game or you could say a flick where the game plays a big part in the story. Nonetheless this is the true biographical story of Jann Mardenborough.

We are introduced to Mardenborough as a young man, a college dropout but obsessed with the Playstation game Gran Turismo and racing in general. It becomes quite clear that all the time Jann has played the game/racing simulator, he’s actually learned how to drive racing cars and drive them exceptionally well. He’s even beaten the best to play the game. Jann one day gets the opportunity of a lifetime when a newly formed GT Academy selects him and several other players from around the globe to train in professional driving. Him and the candidates also compete for a spot in real professional races across the globe. This film follows Jann’s unbelievable journey from gamer to one of the top racers in the world.
