<p>School is one of, if not, the most recognized emblem of a modern society. Think Human Development Index or the notion of classroom being our best initiator of cultural change. It’s hard to find an infrastructure so widely acknowledged, yet so brutally criticized. They say high school is your best years, yet most high schoolers would rather sleep in. It’s in the midst of all of that, that I wonder about the ancient Greeks.</p>
<p>You see, ancient Greece, in particular Athens, will always stand in my mind as an oasis next to the vacancy or barbarian violence I was taught about regarding other civilizations. This lack of nuance and the rose-tinted view I hold of this society I never knew does raise a few internal eyebrows, and that is why I decided to examine the Ancient Greek art of education.
