An hidden gem in Istanbul: Balat

One of Istanbul’s most stunning and historic neighbourhoods is Balat. There’s nothing like the atmosphere you experience walking around Istanbul’s historic buildings and winding cobblestone streets — it’s like being in a different part of the world.
The district, which is situated beyond Eminönü’s shores along the Golden Horn, is actually tucked away a little. It’s conveniently located and a short stroll from the Golden Horn metro stop, known in Turkish as Haliç. Families can be seen strolling along the promenade all the way up to Pierre Loti at the end of the Golden Horn, and the entire coastal road along it is incredibly pleasant. The road runs alongside several large parks.
