I Hate God of the Gaps Theology

<p>In other words, there&rsquo;s a 1 in 10⁴⁰⁰⁰⁰ probability that life could have arisen spontaneously on Planet Earth. This is a lower probability than winning Powerball for 52 consecutive weeks. Who could believe in anything that improbable?</p> <p>There are reasons why I would question that number but; let&rsquo;s put that aside.</p> <p>We do not know, may never know, exactly how life started on this planet. So there is a gap in our understanding. For what it&rsquo;s worth. I suspect that the probability of life emerging, even under ideal conditions, is very small. I&rsquo;m in good scientific company there.
