Game Review: ‘How We Know We’re Alive’ Is a Moving Game About Friendship and Loss

I’m a sucker for games that hit me like a sucker punch to the gut, so when I came across How We Know We’re Alive, I was instantly sold. It’s a beautiful, poignant, hour-long game from Swedish indie game studio Motvind Studios about friendship and loss.

The game has a Steam version, a paid iPadOS/iOS version, and a free version on itch.io. I played the free version, so this review is based on that.

The paid versions have bonus content like wallpapers, the entire soundtrack, including unreleased songs, and more. But the free version, while lacking all of this, lets you play the full game, which is great.
