Game Character Design Series Part 1: Introduction I

This is the first part of what I hope will be a series of articles that I’ll be writing mostly to record the steps for creating my first 3D game character from scratch and maybe help some other people along the way.

Games frankly require a lot of work and time, coming together from the culmination of multiple skills and disciplines. These are brought together to design the environments, the objects in those environments, the characters we play as and much more. Character design is just one of those aspects and perhaps I can have a future series for the other aspects too.

Character design (as I imply here) is the end-to-end process of creating a 3D playable character that can be used in a game. Let me assume there may be people who wouldn’t know the process of what goes into making a 3D game-ready character. I’ll go ahead and explain the process, in some detail, in the next sections.

Visit Now
