The French-Only rule: Because who needs clarity anyway?

After settling into Montreal for a couple of months and mustering the courage to step out of my comfort zone, I made the decision to enroll in French classes.

Although the Quebec government offers free French courses, I decided to register with a private language school. There were more flexible schedules and smaller class sizes, which I thought would offer a personalized and focused learning experience. Little did I know.

It didn’t take long for me to realize that the challenge of language learning isn’t confined to wrestling with tricky grammar and confusing vocabulary. No, there’s an additional layer of complexity: the steadfast commitment to French-only rule. Who cares if learners are left befuddled? After all, comprehension is overrated, and clarity is for the weak. Vive la confusion.
