The problem is not your A2 level of french, it’s the french mentality

Moved from New York to Paris a year and a half ago, and now I can finally “complain” about something I’ve been waiting for. So, here’s the deal: when foreigners, especially Americans, move to Paris, they often find French people to be pretty direct and abrasive. The number one thing people keep talking about is how foreigners don’t speak French when they come to France. And sure, that’s true, but let me ask you this: do French people take group Mandarin classes when they go to China? Nope, they don’t. Additionally, I speak conversational French quite well, and my foreign friends who are fluent in French have had similar experiences. It’s not just about speaking broken French, it’s about the french mentality.
