<h2>The Messy Hacienda de Calamba Agrarian Dispute</h2>
<p>A protracted agrarian legal dispute over vast tracts of land in <em>Hacienda de Calamba</em> (now Calamba, Laguna) between the Dominican friars and the prominent families in Calamba happened between 1887 to 1891.</p>
<p>On August 14, 1890, in spite of an appeal before the<em> Tribunal Supremo</em> (Supreme Court) in Madrid, the Rizals were ordered to abandon their family home — their furniture and other movables were removed and intentionally left on the streets for the people to see.</p>
