I Hated My Foster Parents
<p>My Foster Dad was named Paul, which happened to be my Dad’s name and my middle name.</p>
<p>But that is where the similarities between my parents and my foster parents ended.</p>
<p>And where similarities with Katie’s foster Mom begin.</p>
<p>Martha and Paul had rules and were strict in how they applied the rules and violations of the rules.</p>
<p>My childhood was pretty loose and relaxed. There weren’t many rules.</p>
<p>I could watch all the Television I wanted, stay up late, and eat what I wanted, including tons of sugar cereal, and homework was something to be ignored.</p>
<p>While that might sound like a childhood dream, in reality, it was the opposite of what I needed — I didn’t fully understand that at the time.</p>

<p>My brothers and sisters were six in total. My oldest sister and I were placed with Martha and Paul, and the other four were placed with a family who owned a dairy farm. My Youngest sister joined us later on.</p>
<p>So we were not only separated from our Mom but also from each other.</p>
<p>Paul was an architect, and Martha was a homemaker. They were well off compared to our poor upbringing.</p>
<p>Paul had forty acres of land that he was developing with single-family homes. He built one house each year. He was starting his fourth home when we moved in.</p>
<p>One home he lived in; the others were either rented or sold.</p>
