Does Playing Five-Minute Chess Mean I’ve Given Up on Life?

<p>In retirement, I have more time for pastimes.</p> <p>I just played ten chess games. It took slightly more than an hour to play them all.</p> <p>It was five-minute chess online. When I hit the play button for a five-minute game, the computer matches me with someone of my skill level somewhere in the world. In my most recent session, I played against people from Spain, Paraguay, Pakistan, Sweden, Canada, and a couple of countries I&rsquo;ve never heard of. Once assigned an opponent, a board and chess clock appear on my screen. Each player is allotted five minutes for moving pieces. If my time runs out, I lose. It is fast and furious chess.
