<p>Today’s featured CRS article, “<strong><em>Allen v. Milligan</em>: Supreme Court Holds That Alabama Redistricting Map Likely Violated Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act</strong>,” gives information about a Supreme Court ruling regarding the redistricting of Alabama.</p>
<p>In the case, Alabama’s redistricting map was ruled as likely violating Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act, which prohibits any voting practice (including the shape of districts) from reducing the impact of or obstructing the votes of anyone “<a href="https://crsreports.congress.gov/product/pdf/LSB/LSB11002" rel="noopener ugc nofollow" target="_blank">based on race, color, or membership in a language minority group</a>.”</p>
