Toronto Has No Father

I went to a networking event last night. Eager to see what is going on in this city. It’s 2023, and it’s the first March since the pandemic hit where people are finally coming out of their caves. The lucky ones are working hybrid, they’re still playing Fetty Wap in the clubs, and the average rent for a one-bedroom is $2,300. There’s a spike in homelessness, eight people have been stabbed on the TTC , and our homicide rate is at its highest in 20 years according to a recent Global News article, where they state, “No major city comes close to that” (Mcdonalds, 2023). What else? Gentrification is more prevalent, causing organized crime to relocate rather than it being a focus of concern for our government. The mayor is in the midst of resigning for infidelity in the office which is a very questionable choice. Infidelity is not shocking for today’s public. Mind you, a person was murdered 5 weeks ago on Sherbourne and Dundas Street East — but sure, give people the pleasure of hearing about John Tory’s gross fleeting office fling.
