Fantastic Boats and Where to Find Them

<p>The MAA Anth received a request from a researcher from Uni Singapore, asking to study more than two dozens of model boats collected by Walter William Skeat (1866&ndash;1953), a civil servant in Selangor (part of Malaysia today), where it was part of the Crown Colony. Worth noticing is that his father was also named Walter William, who wouldn&rsquo;t be discussed in this post.</p> <p>What later publications described Skeat was that he was an English anthropologist, yet he was never trained in anthropology prior to his post. There were people who influenced and encouraged him to puruse in the ethnographic field, such as Alfred Haddon (who was a zoologist-truned-ethnographer); however, it was his career as a colonial administrator in Selangor that brought him into studying the lives of the Malay people.</p> <p><a href="https://medium.com/@GMeiHsu/fantastic-boats-and-where-to-find-them-a3beab345e72"><strong>Click Here</strong></a></p>
