Eyes glaze over when I talk about Indigenous Cultures in the US

<p>In 1999, I was first drawn West (where I lived from 2004&ndash;2022) from the East Coast, where I had lived for close to 50 years.</p> <p>Why exactly?</p> <p>Well&hellip;. 1973, my curiosity had been raised about Native American issues by the Wounded Knee Occupation protest in Pine Ridge, South Dakota, led by the American Indian Movement (AIM) members and their supporters.</p> <p>Law school, career and family life occupied all of my time until the mid-1990s, when I finally had time for more leisure reading. One day I was browsing for books at a local bookstore in Baltimore.
