Evolution of a team’s football tactics over a season : Barcelona 2018/19 a case study
<p>We’ve all heard countless pundits and manager’s waive off early season results or form often stating that their teams need more time to ramp up and get up to speed. The festive season between December — February is full of comments on the impact of fatigue on players as a consequence of playing a lot of games back to back crunched together in a tiny window of time, this is especially the case for the English Premier League. March — May is often considered the business end of the season, where people often say <em>“it’s about getting results and not the performances”.</em></p>
<p>In this two part article we’ll make use of data analysis to try and identify how the performance and tactical setup of a team evolves over a season. We hope our analysis either provides some credence or makes people ponder more about the validity of such commonly used statements.</p>
