<p>The rain followed through on its promise, but it didn&rsquo;t impede my getting on my way for the day. When I entered the hotel lobby, Ramazan took his umbrella and handed it to me, insisting that I may need it.</p> <p>My first stop was the Suleymaniye Mosque, which was designed by Mimar Sinan, considered to be Turkey&rsquo;s greatest architect.</p> <p>Turkish founding President Atat&uuml;rk eliminated the use of Arabic script, and replaced it with modified Roman letters. There are umlauts and cedillas sometimes used, which make changes to the way certain letters are pronounced.</p> <p>The spelling is simplified and phonetic.
