Ecological Adventures in Florida

What kind of biomes can you encounter in Florida? One of them is rainforest, and you can experience it at Devil’s Millhopper (Florida State Parks 2024). At the bottom of the boardwalk lies a crystal blue sinkhole, formed from eroded limestone.

Here, you can hike by small waterfalls trickling down the rocks, and ask the rangers about fossils discovered in the sinkhole. There is a recreational area for families to enjoy picnics and educational displays. Swimming and watersports are not included with this adventure.

Devil’s Millhopper is open from 8am EST to sunset all year. Pedestrian and bicyclist admission is $2 per person, and if you want to bring your vehicle it’s $4 per person.
