When Will We See Each Other Again?
<p>When I glance at the fading tape on my water bottle, I realize that the words are fading just as quickly as my memories of living abroad. My roommate in Spain made name tags out of blue duct tape to mark all of our doors in the apartment. Her nickname for me, “Kail Bail,” is almost unreadable. It is moments like these when I truly realized how much time has passed.</p>
<p>On September 8, it will be one year since I stepped foot in Barcelona. One year ago, I was gearing up for an opportunity that would forever alter the trajectory of my life. I knew it would be a blast and a period of growth, but I never expected the impact it had. I fell in love with Barcelona, the city, the architecture, the culture, the people, the coffee… every little piece. I can go back, but it won’t be the same. La Sagrada Familia won’t be growing right before my eyes, the air won’t be turning from scalding to cool, and I won’t be swinging beers with friends while watching World Cup matches. I would just be another tourist in a city full of them.</p>
