My experience in the World Youth Days in Lisbon: A droplet in an ocean

In 2019, Panama hosted the World Youth Days, a Christian event held triennially. An event which brought over 700 thousand youngsters to the Central American nation in a week cloaked in religiosity and fraternity.

Naturally, many people found it hard to travel to Panama in order to attend the celebrations. In response, parishes such as the one from my county brought to life local projects to “mimic” the experience provided by the WYD. In my home town this project was called “Panama in Douro”, a reference to the river that runs through it.
