The Don’ts in Drawing

Twenty years ago, art was something you did as a hobby. It was not a smart choice and certainly not something you could do as a freelancer. At that time, only experienced artists and illustrators were able to survive with just art. At least, that was the world I lived in. Nowadays, it seems everyone is making a living with art: print-on-demand t-shirts, stickers, art prints, book markers, you name it. On Instagram, my head throbs from all the illustrators and artists out there, and I don’t even know who to follow anymore. The idea of being an artist is now taken seriously, and if 20 years ago it was only a dream, now you can create your working space from your own home and live the dream.

Nowadays, so many 20-years-olds are already making a living as artists and have hundreds of thousands of followers. How can I compete with that? My skills aren’t even good yet. I still have a lot to learn, but what I’ve learned so far, I’d like to share with you, especially the don’ts!
