Does Gen Z Realize How Predatory Mainstream Culture Used To Be?

Lately, I’ve been watching the Danny Masterson scandal hit the airwaves. One of the biggest (non)shockers was finding out that Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis both wrote letters asking for leniency.

A video interview of Ashton saying that he was “waiting for the Olsen Twins to get legal” which aged like milk, all things considered. Gen Z fans seemed to be pretty shocked, from what I saw.

I wasn’t.

The truth is that while every single day comes with more stories of aggressive, angry, and downright violent men, I’m starting to remember that modern society has still become more self-aware than it was in the 1990s and 2000s.

That predatory behavior was NOT a Hollywood-only thing. As a Millennial who ended up on the short end of society’s stick, it’s amazing to see how much progress was made. I don’t think people remember how common open predation really was.

Don’t believe it? Let me illustrate what was considered to be socially acceptable back in the day

Website
