<p>The Roman calendar only had ten months and ended in February.</p>
<p>It did not account for the extra quarter of a turn we complete in our dance around the sun every year.</p>
<p>Julius Caesar gave us Leap Day every fourth year at the end of February in his Julian calendar, to account for this.</p>
<p>The Gregorian calendar, used by much of the world today, has kept Leap Day, but it has included some additional calendar math for better accuracy.</p>
