Why All Game DevLogs Fail?

DevLogs serve as a guide and motivation. I’ve seen many DevLogs, and I realized that most do not achieve commercial success. Some may make more than $10k, but it took them 3 years to develop the game, and some never even finished their games.

I became curious about understanding the commercial success rate for the indie games I followed. So I read 11 DevLogs on Medium and found that only 2 DevLogs had more than 1 post.

Let’s forget the question of how many achieve commercial success or finish their games; the vast majority don’t even continue their DevLogs. I searched online to find the completed games and almost never found a trace of them. I was surprised that so many projects were abandoned so quickly.

I want to emphasize that I’m conducting this research for constructive purposes, not to criticize other people’s experiences. I’m looking to improve my skills as a developer and share what may benefit others on the same journey.
