I am K, or Kspaze1, a PhD grad working in the medical tech start-up space who also practices illustration. My first touch with art is via b-boying and graffiti — the two art forms of Hip Hop culture. I picked up character arts and did commission character arts for 6 years, with notable features by legendary rap group Wu-Tang Clan’s RZA and Mexican artist Adan Cruz.
I learnt about the beauty of blockchain and NFTs in providing a frictionless platform for artists to connect, create and build. I dabbled into NFTs doing fan arts for projects, and was curated by Gamestop to be a launch artist for their NFT marketplace debut in 2022. Since then, I was commissioned as a contract artist for multiple projects — a burnt-out degen who draws PFP and project assets 14 hours a day (on top of my day job). I reinvested everything into learning more about the NFT art space, collecting 1/1 arts, learning from artists, and daydream about creating my own arts — and not illustrate-to-order.
Opportunities smiled when I was selected as the first cohort of Avalanche’s Avaissance Artist-in-Residence. I made great friends and was fortunate enough to work with Hyperspace on their launch on Avalanche. I am currently working on my first art pieces that I have thought about for a while.
