DAVID RANDLE: A DEATH SENTENCE REVERSED BY STEM CELL GENETICS

David Randle had a heart attack and was told he was too ill for a transplant. He was told that his days were numbered. The heart attack was a severe blow to his health, in fact, he had to stop working because of it. Generally, a heart attack occurs when the flow of blood to the heart is blocked. The blockage is most often a buildup of fat, cholesterol and other substances, which form a plaque in the arteries that feed the heart (coronary arteries). The plaque eventually breaks away and forms a clot. The interrupted blood flow can damage or destroy part of the heart muscle.

David Randle was diagnosed with Ischemic cardiomyopathy. His heart muscle was damaged as a result of a narrowing of the arteries to his heart muscle, and the lower left chamber of his heart wasn’t functioning well.
Ischemic cardiomyopathy is the most common type of dilated cardiomyopathy. In Ischemic cardiomyopathy, the heart’s ability to pump blood is decreased because the heart’s main pumping chamber, the left ventricle, is enlarged, dilated and weak. This is caused by ischemia - a lack of blood supply to the heart muscle.
