Data Analyst Interview Experience

This was my first time giving a data analyst interview. It was expected to be around 30 minutes but extended up to 1 hour. (PS — I am a third-year computer science undergrad).

So here it goes!

Starting off with my introduction, the interviewer asked me about all the subjects I have in my course and my experience in AI and ML. Then series of questions were asked.

What are the steps in data analysis?

Then, a discussion related to statistics started, what is the p-value, its significance, and how do we measure it(explained null and alternative hypotheses), what is the value with which we create a mark(that is 0.05, what does it mean if it is close to 0 or 1), following what if instead of 0.05 I consider 0.1, what will be its pros and cons?

What is standard deviation explain in simple terms, why we use it, what its types are, what is normal distribution, and what is the formula(I told her that, and then the next follow-up was — what is the significance of squaring the values and then taking root of the complete term).

A case study was given. There is a t-shirt manufacturing store, that has 4 sizes of t-shirts and the owner has hired me as a data analyst to predict their sales in the upcoming year. What information should I ask the owner in order to start my work (need to ask him only nontechnical questions that he could answer easily), how to start the process, data cleaning, preprocessing, and presenting reports for the same?

Website
