A Delightful Afternoon in Dalkey, Ireland

This past May, I finally visited Dublin, a city I have had on my travel list for years. Having booked an unbelievable Air Canada flight deal from Toronto, I decided to go with a quick five-night trip. (I will highlight a few Dublin experiences in a separate article). My travel companion joined me for the Dublin jaunt but had plans to go to Galway for two nights in between. For my solo time, I decided to jump around a couple of hotels within Dublin, as I sometimes like to experience a city from a different neighborhood by staying there. There is plenty to do in the city, but there was a call to explore outside of it briefly for a slower experience. I reluctantly put the idea of Kilkenny and Galway away for this shorter trip but then came up with a spontaneous idea to visit delightful Dalkey. This interesting and pleasing-to-the-eye location was once a port town starting in medieval times. It was recommended by the manager of a posh pub I stopped in during a stroll in the Liberties district of Dublin.
