What are CSA Scores?

CSA scores are a measure of a motor carrier’s safety performance, as determined by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s (FMCSA) Compliance, Safety, Accountability (CSA) program.

The CSA program is a safety enforcement and compliance initiative that was developed to identify and correct safety issues within the commercial motor vehicle industry.

CSA scores are calculated using data from a variety of sources, including roadside inspections, crash reports, and safety audits.

This data is used to evaluate carriers in seven categories, known as the “Behavior Analysis and Safety Improvement Categories” (BASICs).
