There is a strong bias against race and gender with the use of corporal punishment. Approximately 37% of corporal punishment reports involve black children, and approximately 80% of corporal punishment reports involve male children (Shaw & Braden, n.d.).
Approximately 81% of parents report that using corporal punishment on their children is appropriate (Cuddy & Reeves, 2022).
Reports show that approximately 60% of children are victim to corporal punishment by their caregivers or their parents (World Health Organization: WHO, 2021).
