They Keep Us Coming Back

The American League runs through Houston.

For the final four of the year’s longest road trip, the Red Sox found themselves up against an Astros team that is rounding into their annual October form. And worth noting, amidst a hot streak by Seattle, Houston’s wildcard spot is the one Boston is chasing after.

The first two games were a letdown. After a 3-run homer in the first inning of game 1, Boston’s offense struggled to drive in runs, and starter James Paxton could not get through the Astros lineup. Game 2 saw a solid performance from Tanner Houck in his first major league start since returning from the IL, but once again the offense could not back him up. Game three was close fought and Chris Sale looked much better in innings four and five than he did in the first three. It could have gone either way, but fortunately Adam Duvall is back in April form. Game four thank goodness the offense broke through.
