How Can Clouds Possibly Float?
<p>While watching this cloud swirl and morph and grow as it floated in front of the sun, I wondered: The cloud is full of stuff, and the sky all around it looks empty, so how come the cloud floats? Shouldn’t it just sink down to the ground, like a ball of cotton would?</p>
<p>Turns out the cloud is lighter than air. I know, that makes no sense! But if you think I’ve got my head in the clouds, well, I’m just passing along what the scientists say. Let’s see if we can clear the air on this …</p>
<p>First off, you don’t have to be an Einstein to imagine that clouds contain some mass and have weight, or what scientists like to call density<em>.</em> But clear air has density, too.</p>
