Clint Ogbenna The Master Mind Behind Street Fashion

On the day of March 21st, 2023, I was scrolling through my Twitter feed and I came across a video that showed a monstrous crowd of youth vehemently seeking coordinates for shoe release by a streetwear company called Corteiz. I’ve always heard of Corteiz due to the algorithms of Instagram but I never was aware of the hype Corteiz was able to bring for itself. Truly it is something I’ve never seen before. Observing one of the shoe releases in New York, I witnessed it took place at a bodega which was completely an unorthodox idea for a shoe release. The whole city of New York was flooded with kids from 15–25 waiting outside a bodega store for some sneakers, it was quite astonishing to me. I had to ask myself who in the hell is creating these exceptional moments that can be memorable for a lifetime. It took quite a while to find the owner’s name but he goes by “Clint”. A Nigerian-Britishmen.

Clint Ogbenna has created a business marketing strategy that has never been done before in my opinion, and he has been breaking down fashion barriers that have been set in place for many years. Corteiz is a unique streetwear brand that has a die-hard fan base. I don’t believe it’s a company but more like a community. Corteiz isn’t like other brands, one example is in order to get on a Corteiz website you would need a password to log in. The Instagram page isn’t public… and they have roughly over 600k followers, so you pray they hopefully see your request. Many people have criticized the design of the clothing saying it’s “simple” and others have said it’s “not extravagant enough” but they fail to see the bigger picture Clint Ogbenna has created for the community of Corteiz. It doesn’t matter what others think. Clint Ogbenna refuses for his merch to be resold by its buyers, and Corteiz doesn’t market itself to celebrities. The company tailors itself only to people who values the brand and believes in what it believes in. Prominent figures like Central Cee, Virgil Abloh, Asap Rocky, and others have shown their appreciation for Corteiz Clothing.
